AGRITOURISTIC FARM   “LA SELVETELLA”  Caiazzo

T H E   H I S T O R Y

The agritouristic farm “la Selvetella” is situated in the Caiazzo area, in Via Casa Rizzi, loc. Selvetelle, enjoying an enviable panorama and looking out on the medio Volturno Valley, with a view from the Monti Matesini to the town of Capua.

The farm and its lands belong to the de Angelis family, descending from Giuseppe Andrea de Angelis, who bought in 1836 the ancient feud of Caiazzo and the magnificent Longobard Castle of the town from the Marquis Corsi Salviati of Florence.

The farm-house, in which the agritouristic activity takes place, was recently restructured according to the sanitary and safety standards and once was occupied by farmers, who were specialized in the growing of olive trees and fruit – bearing plants. These farmers were called by Giuseppe Andrea de Angelis and moved from the Penisola sorrentina,  where there was and there is still a famous tradition in the growing of olive trees and fruit – bearing plants

During the last years a part of the arboreal species, which have been treating for decades, was destroyed by several fires in the zone. Today Giuseppe Andrea  de Angelis’ last descendant, Fernando and his wife Gelsomina want to give these places the ancient beauty again.
